In the bustling retail landscape of the UK, capturing the attention of passersby is essential. One unique project that demanded precision and expertise was the creation of a stunning panther statue for a chain of famous jewellery shops. As a 3D modeling specialist, I had the privilege of assisting Buzz Productions UK in preparing and 3D printing this captivating window display using state-of-the-art technology. Join me as I take you through the journey of bringing this majestic panther to life.
The Vision for the Panther Window Display
When approached by the workshop, their goal was clear: they wanted a show-stopping window display that would captivate the attention of shoppers. A 1.2-meter-tall panther, poised gracefully on a stack of gift boxes, was the centerpiece they envisioned. With the objective of creating a striking visual impact, the challenge lay in preparing the 3D model for printing and ensuring a flawless execution.
Resolving Geometry Issues
The customer provided an initial 3D model for the panther statue, but as is often the case, there were issues with the geometry in the .stl file. It fell upon me to address these challenges and optimize the model for 3D printing. Through meticulous cleaning, I removed unwanted geometry, closed holes in the mesh, and adjusted the resolution to ensure the model was print-ready. The whole process was done in Zbrush and was captured in the video below.
Preparing for 3D Printing with Precision
To materialize the vision, we employed the cutting-edge Massivit 1800 Pro printer. Using a slicer, I meticulously prepared the panther statue for printing, ensuring that every detail would be accurately reproduced. The slicing process involved breaking down the model into two parts (body & tail), printable layers and generating printable g-codes, which were provided to the customer for seamless execution.

A Swift and Flawless Printing Process
Thanks to the efficiency of the Massivit 1800 Pro printer, the panther statue was brought to life in an impressive timeframe. The design was split into two parts, allowing for simultaneous printing, and reducing the overall printing time. Remarkably, the entire printing process took a mere six hours, resulting in high-quality prints.

Customer Satisfaction and Finishing Touches
With the printed parts in hand, Buzz Productions team was eager to add their personal touch. Employing their creative talents, they applied varnish and paint to enhance the panther’s realistic appearance, further adding to its allure.

A Mesmerizing Window Display
Once completed, the panther statue found it’s home in the window displays of the retail shops. The striking presence of the majestic panther, elegantly perched on the gift boxes, enticed and mesmerized onlookers. It served as a captivating visual representation of the brand, drawing in customers and setting the stage for a memorable shopping experience.

The successful realization of the panther window display project stands as a testament to the power of 3D modeling and printing technologies in bringing artistic visions to life. By addressing geometry issues, preparing the model for 3D printing, and utilizing advanced printing techniques, we transformed a concept into a tangible masterpiece. The panther window display showcased the seamless fusion of creativity and technology, captivating audiences and leaving an indelible impression.
